(Many homeless people sleep on nearby steps-which I am glad Baltimore allows this, since some cities 'clean' this up for appearances, which is a lack of freedom IMO, however, I used this to describe the locale) As I mentioned before the hotel protects it's occupants by supplying safety elements, so I was surprised when none of the hotel staff were notifying us of anything.

10. The Monaco is a grand dame of a hotel and appears to be the best hotel in Baltimore as far as class and sophistication, however, it lacks a location befitting of its stature and management attention to safety and customer care.
