1. Everything was in disrepair: the light fixture hummed loudly, carpet was stained, old school television had a bullet hole or cigarette burn in the case and a splash of white paint on it, as did the bed frame.

2. We had a sleeper sofa in our room, and when I took the cushions off, there were food crumbs, hair, stains, unidentifiable stains on the ceilings and walls, lamps that didn't work,and not enough electrical outlets for cell phones, lap-tops, etc.

3. The carpet was filthy, the chairs were covered in stains and I couldn't imagine sitting in them.
