1. What was wrong? Well: the breakfast was hardly Henrietta's table (at the Charles in Cambridge, still one of the best places to eat and people watch, but that's another story) - and cost $30.

4. The staff tried hard to solve the mechanical and plumbing problems, but this place should be completely gutted and renovated, including plumbing and electrical, preferably years ago.

5. The carpet was probably 30 years old, hard-used by hundreds, maybe thousands of travelers, grey-black around the walls (originally gold-orange) and had been patched with an entirely different grey strip in front of the bathroom where presumably no one could ignore the wear any longer.
