1. When you consider the reasonable rates at this pleasant well located hotel, the Paramount just might merit a 5th star.

2. Rates were very affordable mid-week in January - low season, so I booked an executive king room on a high floor (16 or so total floors here) complete with jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower.

4. We had an excellent rate called 'just your luck, park for a buck,' which gave us valet parking basically at no cost and the room rate was much more reasonable than at most downtown hotels.

5. I think because Portland's downtown is trying so very hard to be trendy and sexy, that good solid choices for hotels like The Paramount can get overlooked, but if you can get a decent rate here this place is a really good choice.

7. If you simply drive a block or so north on SW Taylor Street - plenty of parking abounds for rates under $10 a night.
