1. About a 10-15 minute drive to South Beach (we would get there early each morning and had no problem getting street metered parking for the day).

5. A good seafood joint right across the street, a steak house a little down the way, and a decent tapas restaurant about 2 blocks down La Juene Rd.

6. If you are renting a car or staying for more than a night, do yourself a favor and go to the Courtyard in Coral Gables - it's on the same street, a couple miles south in a better neighborhood, and is a much better value.

7. First shock was the undisclosed $15/day parking fee; I realize that it's one of the less-than-charming traditions of mediocre hotels in Miami to do so, but for comparison, the Doubletree down the street is less than half that at $7.
