HOWEVER we lost our credit card's the 1st night we were there and when we realized the next morning and went to the front desk for HELP we were met with total non-professional service, the clerk was more involved in her conversation about her personal life with a uninterested fellow employee than helping us.

Overall, I would choose Pier House, for its great rooms, service and the fact that although it is considered a 'resort' it has more of the charm and appeal of the smaller guest houses instead of a 'corporate' hotel like the Hyatt, etc. It is family owned and is laid back, but still has great amenities and good service.
