5. We stayed at the Grand Californian on our last visit here and were not enitrely blown away by it, so decided to check out the place where it all started, which also had far better rates.

6. There are only two reasons you pay the huge rates: (1) You love Disney so much that mouse ear shampoo bottles and Disney character topiary wallpaper next to the toilet fill you with glee or (2) The unbeatable proximity to the parks.

7. We prefer to stay on property if the rate is good and have stayed in all three Disney hotels a number of times.

8. Make sure that if you want some quietness along with your high room rate, be sure to ask about a room facing the pool and not near Downtown Disney.
