2. Great location right on the Embarcadero with all the Kimpton amenities like the wine happy hour in a beautiful lobby before you step out on the Embarcadero to the tremendous dinner options in the neighborhood, plus if you're nice to the front desk you may end up with one of the rooms with a great view of the Bay Bridge to end the evening in style.

3. Hit the Farmers Market on Saturday, Hog Island Oyster for lunch (delicious), Gott's another day (very good), Tadich Grill for dinner (disappointing) and some of the other places in the Ferry Terminal.

5. The staff were helpful without being intrusive, answered questions and gave advice with good cheer, and the room service (from the adjoining Japanese restaurant) was lovely--my bento dinner was so lovely, in fact, that I photographed it for posterity.
