1. North Beach was a great area to stay in, very lively, lots of restaurants and bars and easy to walk to Fisherman's Wharf area.

Yep it's not the place for someone who wants all the modern amenities and frankly be sure to pack light because schlepping heavy luggage up all those stairs is a real drag (though I must say the staff is very happy to assist you with managing it) but it is in a top location, the heart of North Beach with fabulous restaurants & bars within walking distance.

9. Smack bang in the middle of north beach with plenty of bars and restaurants close by and even though it was hilly both union square and fishermans wharf can be reached easily on foot.
