We arrived early & the bell man was more than happy to hold our bags while we explored the great city of Chicago & waited for check-in.

First of all, the front desk staff was so nice - I wanted to
check in
early so I could attend some meetings at the conference, and they didn't even blink (most hotels try to make you feel bad for not waiting until 3).

can be as much as an hour earlier, depending on how full they are.

When we were checking out, some people were trying to
check in
at around 11AM, which is around the time when people usually check out, so they were asked to stand aside, albeit a bit rudely IMO.

We had plenty of time to enjoy the amenities of the lobby - there were none - while the front desk staff dealt with phone calls instead of servicing the check-in line.
