1. Nice atmosphere; closed for badly needed renovations; I hope the bathrooms and elevators are redone.

2. Those other guests who have long lamented the decor of the rooms will be happy to know the hotel is CLOSING for several months for total renovations ( yes, plumbing, bathrooms too!) We are confident that the upgrades will be classy and in keeping with the heritage of this important landmark.

3. We stayed in a standard room, two single beds, free wifi, two bath robes, nice bathroom, TV, ipod docking station, etc. The Algonquin offers free coffee/tea to it's guests on the 2nd floor 24 hours a day via a single serve Tassimo (or something similar) machine, this was great in the morning when I was up early and needed to catch a train.

6. The room wasn't too small- I expected it to feel like a closet- but there was plenty of room to walk around- there was a closet available and the bathroom was quite large as well.

7. As for the suite, the couch in the living area was stained, the bathroom was huge but the AC was so SO LOUD that you could not hear the TV when it cycled on every few minutes.
