4. I highly recommend this hotel and make sure you check out their little pathways in the back -- you will feel like you are on the set of 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' with the massive trees.

6. Imagine a hotel where the employees know your name, and recommend activities NOT because they get a kickback from a tour company but because they genuinely think you'll like a particular activity.

7. Overall, we were not disappointed in our stay at the Dolphin Bay hotel and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hilo, however, looking back we would have preferred staying in Kona a little longer, or moving onto Volcano instead, as we found the atmosphere in Hilo left a little to be desired.
