1. They don't have a pool, which could be nice if you needed a break (but then it rains a lot in Hilo anway!), though they are so close to the Rainbow Waterfalls that I'd just go there for a dip.

2. Don't miss Kaleos Bar and Grill in Pahoa (on your way to the tidal pools), reputedly the best restaurant on the Big Island.

3. If you have a rental car you can easily visit Volcano National Park (45 minutes), Rainbow Falls (5 minutes) and snorkel in Richardson Park (5 minutes) and the Fish Pond tidal pools (20 minutes).
