5. What I got was a FILTHY, run down room, w/ a lovely view of a parking lot & a smelly dumpster, an inedible breakfast, no customer service & at a minimum 20-30 min walk to the decent side of the Riverwalk.

Hawthorne Suites River Walk is undergoing welcome and needed renovations because it's been acquired by Hotel Indigo, a franchise boutique hotel chain owned by ICH, InterContinental Hotels Group, which also owns Intercontinentals, Holiday Inns, etc. Expect things - and rates - to be considerably heightened.
