1. I would not recommend this hotel; stay somewhere else downtown & drive to the Riverwalk or pay a few $$s more & stay at a hotel that is truly on the Riverwalk and more than likely will be cleaner.

2. )We had a terrific 5 days in San Antonio; I never ended up renting a car, too much to do downtown, and we used public transit to Seaworld.

3. And, yes, the Hawthorne Inn is located in a seedier part of downtown.

4. The location is not in the center of downtown, but it takes just a very short walk to reach the very center of San Antonio, so that cannot really be called a disadvantage of this hotel.
