1. If you want to visit the White House and environs and don't want to walk that far, your better bet is to take the Metro from the Dupont Circle station to one of the Farragut Square stations or the one on McPherson Square, which cuts out about two-thirds of that hike for a nominal fee.

2. It was great to have free interent usage - I skyped most of my calls to not have to pay the 85 cent/minute local call fee.

3. They not only agreed to waive the early cancellation fee (should it have been necessary), but upgraded me to a larger suite, at the US Government per diem rate, so that my mother could stay with me.

5. We reserved the restaurant patio from noon-3pm (no room rental fee if you are staying at the hotel) for our party of 20.

6. The fee to park 8 hrs overnight was $30!now in defense of the hotel, they did tell us before hand that if there was no parking, we would have to make use of a public garage.

7. HOWEVER, they said the garage was 3 blocks away (it was 10!), and the fee was $19 (it was $30).
