7. I strongly suspect this hotel has a defect as the result of its recent and much-touted update - noise from rooms that are NOT immediate neighbors may be flowing to other rooms through the ventilation system, and quite clearly at that.

8. So I further suspect that the choice really is between closing off the internal vents in the duct work - thus having no heating/AC system, and trying to sleep with whatever noise others in the hotel might be making down the hall.

9. My son was taking a 'nighttime' pain reliever that, when combined with his i-pod earbuds, and keeping his head under pillows, he found sufficient to put him to sleep despite the noise.

10. Reviewing the computer, she apologized for the noise and the thermostat problem - confirming with me that they HAD immediately addressed that problem and 'fixed' it.
