Although the hotel had been paid for in full prior to leaving the UK, my brother in-laws credit card was not accepted by the hotel for some unknown reason, he tried contacting his bank in the uk with no luck and the hotel said they needed this for security, the only way he could stay was by my letting them use my credit card as security.

5. All hotels in Santa Barbara are expensive and you have to accept this as you are only 2 hours drive from LA, but do not feel that the rate we paid was overpriced.
