1. yes u can hear it during the day but after around 9pm it seemed the anticipated quiet zone status did kick in until around the 6:15am amtrack did wake me up but I didnt care as that is when the free breakfast started, so on a positive spin I didnt have to set an alarm for breakfast.

6. so that wasnt a problem, nor was traffic noise a problem, but then I am used to London traffic and we found the traffic in san Diego to be very quiet, certainly on a par with London at 2am.
