1. There are various restaurants/cafes nearby (a chipotle, coffee bean & tea leaf to name a few), including the terrific and beautifully adorned Currant brasserie attached to the hotel, with its checkered tile floors, and flying buttresses that bridge the pillars and columns high above.

2. Granted these rooms may not be as large as 5 star, luxury locales, but nonetheless, the suites at the Sofia are terrific.

3. Despite confusion at the front desk over a living-social deal where we purchased a suite but the hotel initially checked us into a regular room, the Sofia Hotel is a terrific and centrally located near 4 star hotel in sunny San Diego.

4. This recently redone hotel was terrific - from the bellboys greeting you to the front desk staff - service is clearly a priority.

5. I stayed two nights (Sat and Sun) and got terrific rates - actually when I mentioned that I had stayed at the Hotel's affliated hotel in another city the lady at the front desk gave me an even better rate when I extended my stay to include the Sunday night and gave me a free yoga CD.

7. With Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp district within a block or two, the location is excellent, and the very helpful concierge was terrific helping us get to Balboa Park by bus - was easy.
