2. Our first impression in the lobby was that is was friendly and comfortable, but a bit on the over-decorated and tacky side (at least for semi-snobs like us who prefer simplistic modern Scandinavian and Asian decor ;)) The staff was wonderful and unobtrusive - the only times we saw employees was when the sweet housekeeping/service ladies brought us breakfast, and when we checked in.

3. In addition, by being on the eastern end of the Hillcrest district, we were close to a vibrant and historic neighborhood with lots of interesting culture, a vibe that appealed to a couple of Portlanders like us, and wonderful restaurants like The Tractor Room.

4. Unique B&B with charm, good rates, and wonderful location (if you want to walk to San Diego zoo, you can in five minutes.

6. It is easy walking distance to the zoo and other wonderful sites in Balboa Park and a quick drive to Sea World or a baseball game to see the Padres.
