1. we had so many wonderful conversations, from the Staten island girl working in the restaurant who gave us a rundown of Philly in her eyes, to the front desk staff who high fived our kids when we returned after a long day, and who happily spent time with me working debating the best place to get a cheesesteak.

3. I find Crowne Plaza to be near the best of breed for the chain hotels, so I look for them if I'm far enough out of a city that a good boutique is not available and B&B's aren't yet around either.
