But as a recent negative reviewer pointed out, it is questionable if all that money has been spent on the right things: very good mattresses (a positive), huge LCD TV (some trouble in getting it work, too) in a very small room - was it really needed?; good and noise-reducing carpeting in the corridors and stairs and nice roof terrace and courtyard.

The positives are that the owner was a really friendly guy and always had time for his guests, there was a pc upstairs with free internet access which is really handy to pop on and use and considering i wasn't expecting it there was a continental breakfast, (never ate anything but was handy to have a coffee or orange juice first thing in the morning).

The really positive things about Venice on the Beach: great location right on the beach, warm and friendly staff, laid back and independent feel, good wireless, comfortable bed and pillows, soft, fresh white linens, rooms conveniently appointed, two great outdoor public areas to hang out which look directly out onto the beautiful beach where many people are jogging, walking their dogs, and enjoying the beach.
