3. We found many better breakfast places within an easy walk in the surrounding neighborhood (Brenda's, Toast, or even right next door, Mel's)The neighborhood can be a bit disconcerting if you're not used to homeless people asking for change but for the most part they are not overly aggressive about it.

4. you can find this in any city in the wolrd, and dont let it influence your choice of hotel; if you want to escape the real world entirely and not see any poor people I suggest that Disneyland would be a better choice.

6. The Opal has a good location with access to convenient transit connections (bus lines on Van Ness to The Marina and Fisherman's Wharf, a souless tourist trap, and Geary to downtown or out to Richmond, as well as a cable car down California - pick up day or multiday transit pass at the Holiday Inn up the street at Pine) The hotel itself is reasoble for SF, but the carpets are about 10 years overdue for replacement, and the breakfast was - well there is a diner attached that might be a better option.

9. The room is so small it is tricky to work out, but I found the limited space and equipment to be much better than finding and paying for a gym or not working out at all.
