1. My friend took me back packing all over San Francsico, CA this past weekend and we stayed at the Layne Hotel, it was wonderful.

2. After opening the useless blinds (which were in an even more unfortunate state than the banisters), we found we had a wonderful view of a metal stairwell, a grimy brick wall, and the aforementioned window.

4. Not only is it in a great location it has wonderful clean rooms with the most wonderful staff who are so helpful and give great tips of what to do and where to eat etc.

5. It ain't an upscale and fancy place, but it's clean, and Randy Patel, his wife and mother are wonderful hosts, and the place has charm with it's old elevator.
