Yep it's not the place for someone who wants all the modern amenities and frankly be sure to pack light because schlepping heavy luggage up all those stairs is a real drag (though I must say the staff is very happy to assist you with managing it) but it is in a top location, the heart of North Beach with fabulous restaurants & bars within walking distance.

3. The front desk staff were fabulous and that is what makes the stay: Charles and Stan helped us book baseball tickets, told us where was good to go and where wasn't, and were just ready to give advice and information all day.

4. Great restaurants surround you and the seafood down at the square is fabulous - couldn't get enough of the crab (Crab House on Pier 39 has a good combo too).
