This being my first visit to New York I have no point of comparison but from what I have read New York hotels are notorious for very small rooms and very high room rates, in this case I had booked early and my room rate was very reasonable for a room which was quite large and very comfortable with two lcd tv's, a small fridge and a tea/coffee maker.

7. The excellent Tick Tock Diner (see seperate review) and Coopers Tavern, both accessed from the lobby are excellent and reasonable value making life easier, especially for breakfast, or a quick drink after a long days sightseeing.

10. The decor isn't beautiful, and I don't think they have room service or breakfast, but an all- hour cafeteria adjoining the hotel can always provide you with food at a most reasonable price.
