2. While I understand that a hotel doesn't have any responsibilities in this realm, in other times I've called my hotel and they've helped me out with problems like this (or at least been sympathetic).

3. We had to sign a waiver at check-in saying that the hotel isn't responsible for things taken from the room, which was not a good way to start our stay there.
