6. If you like classic furnishings, great service, and a little tiny step back in time, my two favorite places in NY are the Michelangelo and the Intercontinental Barclay.

10. Also, any sound in the hallway seems like it's happening IN your room, very disconcerting, particularly when the staff is busy with trays, etc at 0500.
