But it was the small touches that really made Koa Kea stand out and that were the difference from it being a really good hotel to a really great one: allowing us to check in early when we arrived sooner than planned (noon); gourmet, delicious and beautifully presented 'pool' food; little bags of macadamia nuts on the dresser when we returned from the pool; returning from dinner to turn down service and chilled water next to the bed; luxurious bathroom with double shower heads and French soaps and shampoo products; expresso maker in the room; and friendly and attentive staff.
