4. With my husband we like walking in the sidewalk, front to the beach, and that leads to Whale village, plenty of restaurants and shops.

5. The pool has a nice separate pool area for tiny kids, and although there were plenty of families, the pool scene never got out of control the way it does at a place like the Kaanapali Alii (where it gets taken over by aggressive teenagers who terrorize the little kids).

6. The resort is very low-key - a quiet part of Kaanapali beach, with plenty of chaise chairs for everyone, and lots of space by the pool.

8. There is a path to walk on to get to Whalers Village where there is plenty of shopping options, but we really just enjoyed sitting on the beach at our resort and then driving into Lahaina later in the day to walk around.
