1. Be aware that the casino is generally attended by an older crowd.

2. 25 roulettemostly good drink service (of course tipping helps get good service)the clientele are generally unpretentious people that want to have fun (unlike the strip)couple nice blackjack dealers (David) Negative points:very, very, very smokeymost of their dealers barely speak Englishsometimes in the later evening or shift change, it can take a long time to get a drinkOverall, it's a great 'low roller' casino.

7. Vegas seems to be the last bastion of being able to puff away anywhere you want and it is time for Nevada, in general, Las Vegas, in particular, and the El Cortez to wake up to the fact that the majority of Americans do not live with a ciggy hanging out of their mouths anymore.
"When they said "Old Vegas" they weren't kidding! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/24/2010 Vote
8. Having stayed at the El Cortez previously, I knew what to expect: an inexpensive rate at an older downtown hotel/casino; a clean, functional room; access to reasonably priced restaurants with good food and values; and a generally friendly and accomodating staff.
"Know your needs before you go " Read full review on Expedia   4/7/2010 Vote

"Solid Choice for the Budget Conscious and More Modest Traveler " Read full review on TripAdvisor   2/20/2010 Vote
10. Your rooms are all located above the casino floor so the second you step out the smell of stagnant cigarette smoke and decades old sweat from previous generations of gamers strikes you right in the nostrils and gets you ready for that Vegas night you always imagined.
