My primary goals in selecting a hotel were to be close to the trolley/bus line so I wouldn't have the

Just in downtown San Diego it's either cheaper hotels that have their issues,such as this one and the Holiday inn on the Bay,or really nice,
expensive
hotels like the W or Sheraton.
