1. SD (understandably) has quite a few homeless people - they seem to be everywhere - and the hotel is near some rough areas.

2. The hotel feels quite safe, but be aware that downtown San Diego has a sizable homeless population--some with mental problems--so this area might feel a bit 'rough' to some people.
