1. we were on the 3rd floor so it shouldn't have taken that long to 'get up there' which is what the front desk staff said the problem was.

The new room had a tub and did not smell so bad (at first- the smell came back the next day which made me think perhaps it was a serious hygeine problem on the part of housekeeping staff?) but microwave was broken and iron was missing and the TV only got about half the channels it was supposed to.

3. I have never had a problem finding a nice (Hilton, Marriott etc) cheap (less than $100) hotel in Salt Lake City.
