After manager contact where he gave blatantly false statements in front of an audience saying our problem was due to a reservation made through Expedia and therefore without room type specified, I became more skeptical that this may just be the mode of operation at this hotel- keep it full by taking all reservations independent of room type the people specify.

5. However, the hotel cannot keep its reservations straight and cannot seem to sort things out once the inevitable problems arise.

6. The location is a block`s walk to the bike path on Venice Beach, which is great, the price was reasonable compared to Santa Monica, and the friendliness of the staff was really nice, but the problems make me hesitate to recommend the place, particularly to anyone to whom room type is important.

7. No roll-away beds were available to solve the bed problem for that night.

8. The main problem we had was with the staff - specifially the front desk manager.

9. We upgraded (without any problem) to an ocean side room after 2 days, and really enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the ocean, the sunsets and the people.
