1. It is next to the officical Gaslamp district which helps to avoid the noise though it is close enough to walk to the numerous restaurants, shops, bars, etc.

2. The Gaslamp District is touristy to the point where we didn't bother with it, but even for those taking advantage, I'd think being just outside it, as this hotel is, is a big plus for avoiding excess street noise.

6. Having visit San Diego many, many times during the last twenty years, and remembering accident driving through the old Quarter--a mistake one avoided at all costs--it is pleasantly shocking to see the transformation.

7. Unless the rooms are very competitive and you can park off-site and avoid the excessive fee, I can't recommend it highly.
