1. Made the trip much more interesting, and it was not so far from where i needed to be for work (16th and Market) but i avoided the business hotels that have gotten so boring.

3. As others have suggested, avoid the high parking cost by parking just around the corner at the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) Garage on 2nd and Sansom Streets.

4. avoid taking a car into the city if at all possible - as with any other densely populated and compact city, parking is pricey and just a pain.
