It must be related to the age of the units, as I had a similar
problem
during my previous stay when I was on the 6th floor.

using our room key in the beginning, so we would leave after an hour of being in the hotel, and it would charge us $10.

That was pretty hypothetical that they actually opened, however it was not a

because the air quality was excellent in my room (first floor).
