I especially liked being so close to Politics and Prose bookstore,

Creek Park and the zoo and found the big hot and cold food deli/buffet restaurant Epicurian near the metro stop to be a lifesaver as it is open long hours.

Creek Park, a great 'natural area' operated by the National Park Service is a few blocks down Military Ave.
