1. Our first two nights during the trip we stayed at the Bristol hotel in downtown and the service was excellent.

2. The location was also great, the bus stop for Downtown being right across the road and the Fashion Valley Transit Centre 10 minutes walk away, which was very handy for getting buses to anywhere in the city, as well as bus passes for the week.

6. Other than that 'coastal North County' is the place to stay which is a suburban part of San Diego, about 30min from downtown.

7. If you want to stay in SD and near downtown, La Jolla and Coronado are pretty much the only nice areas, and they are very, very nice.
