1. And, we came upon a great Mexican restaurant named Adalco's which is located in the renovated train station which is within walking distance -- about 2 blocks--GREAT food, plus there was a coupon for an appetizer credit of $7.99 in a small San Antonio brochure found in the rack at the hotel.

2. We asked at the desk for a nearby restaurant and they recommended Aldaco's in the train station (authentic Mexican fare) , Spaghetti Warehouse and Ruth Chris.

4. Others' fears about its location were groundless: five minutes walk to the Riverwalk on well-lit streets and five minutes in the other direction to Sunset Station and an excellent Mexican restaurant.

5. We drove in from Houston, and the drive down Commerce Street was not encouraging-- but the place was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated (though I agree with the poster who found the room to be dark; even with at least ten light bulbs in the room, it still felt a little like a lounge or a romantic restaurant-- a torchiere or two would be a help).
