3. We had booked on Hotwire (at $100 for Friday night and $90 for Saturday night, a pretty darned good deal) and the front desk clerk was confused how we ended up with two different reservations for our two day stay (long-story).

4. Having said that, we have been equally impressed by the Courtyard By Marriott a couple blocks north, so if you can't get a deal, and don't mind walking another minute or so, you could save some money and have an equally great experience there.

The town car refusal seemed to make the bellmen mad which made no sense to me, but when I thought about it latter, he was probably on the take- sure enough the story broke in the portland news (which I follow from seattle often) kgw dot com did the story about the shady deals, and who was in there?the marriott on broadway, the westin, a few others.
