1. Red Lion normally only charges a $20 pet fee for the entire stay, HOWEVER, if you become a member of their Red Lion R&R club that charge is waived and the cost of their membership is absolutely free.

2. If you did not have a car I would pick something closer like the Fairfield or Howard Johnstons which cost more with not as nice rooms but are very close.
