1. We arrived very early and our room wasn't ready but they offered to text us when it was, so we enjoyed a very good lunch at the hotel and received a text about an hour after we had arrived telling us the room was ready.

The hotel staff were all exceptionally friendly, and when they found out this was our anniversary trip, we were upgraded to a king suite and given big red 'Happy Anniversary' buttons (although somewhat embarassing to wear, they proved valuable - we got free champagne with lunch at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and free dessert at Wine Country Trattoria, among other things!).

8. There is one restaurant which is closed for lunch (PCH Grill) is mainly a character dining experience and will certainly require reservations.
