4. I would also recommend to rent a bike (in front of nearest hotel on Market street) which makes sightseing easier and comfortable.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Griffon in 2009 - had a wonderful experience there -wonderful staff, comfortable and tasteful decor - and extraordinary location - just crossthe street - you will see the Bay Bridge and find yourself on the Embarcadero - fantasticwalking area right on the Bay - We loved it so much that we booked it again for thisyear and will each year for our annual San Fran vacation - as we have 2 kids that liveout there - we are so happy that we have discovered this hotel - everything was wonderful - can't think of one thing to change.

7. Check out California Street or Japan Town, even further away from the water and closer to the Wharf would be better than here stay out of the FD and take in culture somewhere else.

I also enjoyed the close location to the financial district, as I was across the street from a post office and within walking distance to many other services, including banks, an AT&T shop for mobile phone service, a great bagel cafe, Noah`s, the BART system (for an easy trip from the airport) and one of the cable lines.

10. Yet you're practically across the street from the Ferry Building, which especially on Saturdays can occupy you for a couple of hours.
