1. Our deluxe room overlooked downtown San Francisco, and despite our initial impression as we walked in (Jeez, this is small), the room was huge, having a sleeping area, a sitting area, a separate desk area and a bar area.

2. Probably not the best for kids or for those who value an ultra-modern look - but if you want a friendly hotel not far off the downtown core (just a quick streetcar ride to the city centre) with great character (and a nightly piano bar), you can't go wrong.

3. This hotel is on top of Nob Hill where you are away from the bustle of downtown yet only four blocks from Union Square.

4. We stayed 5 nights (Sat - Wed) and chose Nob Hill due to the scenic hill location, fairly safe neighborhoods for walking at night, and proximity to the downtown & conference center where we had to be during the day.

8. The cable car runs past the hotel, so you don`t have to walk up the hill from downtown if you lack the stamina.
