2. Some of the reviews have expressed reservations about the neighborhood, but I've lived there and my daughter lives there, and I can tell you that it's a very safe part of town, even late at night.

Super clean and comfortable, friendly, attentive staff, and the location is great - not because it's near Union Square, which is touristy and maybe my least favorite part of SF, but because it's essentially in the center of the city, and if you plan on exploring a bunch of different neighborhoods, it's centrally located, making for a great departure point.
