1. Got a nice discount because of the time of year, but even full price is probably better than a large hotel where you would be one of many anonymous guests.

3. Friendly staff, big home-like rooms, all the details tended to (robes, sewing kits, highest quality fruit and tea available all day, excellent breakfasts and wines included--stuff that has disappeared even from high end hotels) at amazingly reasonable prices in an excellent location.
