1. This is New York City and, for this price you get your own room (many NYC accommodations within in the same price range are bunk beds in dormitories) that is within walking distance of both a major subway line (stops include both Times Square and Penn Station, the former being a transfer point to Grand Central.

2. I was going to the listen to the Dalai Lama at the Beacon Theater on Broadway, and found this hotel to be only a few blocks walk away in a quiet residential neighborhood.

4. I've never seen or felt any bed bugs during my stay, the bathrooms were always empty when I needed, and front desk people are nice and personally walk you to your room.

5. The hotel is in a nice, quiet & safe neighborhood away from the madness yet within walking distance to a subway station, bus station, Gray's Papaya, Zabar's Deli, and a delightful establishment at the corner of Broadway and 71st (wish I remembered the name because we ate there almost daily).

6. The hotel was on the dingy side but when you cram five people into a room all for less than 40 bucks a person, within a five minute walk from the river, subway, and a decent pizza place all within 5 blocks from central park, you can't go wrong.

8. When you exit the hotel and you turn left you will see the River and there's a peer that you can walk on (sooo romantic, beautiful sunset).
